Halloween is two days away, and the Fort Worth area has a range of events for people looking for a scare, a costume party or a family outing. Some celebrations are aimed at children and families, while others are meant strictly for adults.
Forecasts as of Thursday showed a chance of scattered showers on Halloween, so attendees are encouraged to check the weather and plan ahead.
In downtown Fort Worth, Sundance Square is partnering with Duke's Car Club for a Trunk or Treat event at Sundance Square Plaza on Main Street. Candy will be handed out to young trick-or-treaters from 6 to 8 p.m. After that, adults and children in costumes can dance and celebrate on the plaza. The event runs from 5 to 11 p.m. on Oct. 31, and admission is free.
Families can also head to the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St., for the Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth's Halloween Spooktacular. The concert begins at 11 a.m. and features music from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," "Danse Macabre" and the "Harry Potter" films. An hour earlier, families can make their own wands, pose in a haunted photo booth and join a costume parade. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 31. Individual tickets cost $10 to $15, and a family package for four to eight people costs $35.
In Arlington, the University of Texas at Arlington planetarium is presenting Spooky Space, an immersive show about the real monsters of the cosmos, including black holes, zombie stars and the ghost nebula. The show also covers the celestial origins of Halloween. Screenings are at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the UTA Planetarium, and tickets cost $8 to $10.
The Fort Worth Stockyards will host the Treat Street Stockyards Spooktacular Halloween Festival from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31 along East Exchange Avenue. Activities include hayrides, face painting and a family-friendly spooky show. Children 12 and under can trick or treat at participating businesses at Stockyards Station and Mule Alley. Admission is free.
For adults, Meow Wolf Grapevine, located at 3000 Grapevine Mills, is hosting The Cosmic Howl Ultimate House Party at 9 p.m. on Oct. 31. The intergalactic celebration features multiple DJs mixing beats across multiple dimensions, Halloween-themed drinks and a costume contest. The party is open to ages 21 and up, and admission is $46.
