Home cooks in the Kansas City area have a local option for maintaining their kitchen tools before the holiday season. Ambrosi Brothers Cutlery Company, located at 3023 Main Street in KCMO, offers sharpening services that accommodate both professional and residential clients. The shop has been a fixture in the metro's culinary scene since 1959, originally founded by brothers Jesse and Marco Ambrosi.

The business volume reflects its standing with local restaurants and chefs. The shop sharpens approximately 1,500 blades each day. While customers can drop off knives for service, the store also offers a wait-and-see option for an additional $2 per blade. A recent visit indicated that this express service takes roughly 10 minutes, allowing customers to return immediately with their tools.

Current ownership rests with Alfred Ambrosi, the son of founder Jesse. He runs the operation alongside his daughter MaryAnn Lutes and son-in-law Spencer Lutes. The family business has evolved from sharpening blades out of a truck to occupying its current Midtown storefront. It moved to this specific location in 1991, having previously operated from a workshop in Jesse's home and an earlier storefront at 15th and Main Street.

Beyond sharpening, the shop stocks professional quality cutlery. Inventory includes boning knives and multipurpose chef's knives, largely imported from Germany, Switzerland, and Japan. The retail selection extends to other kitchen equipment, such as Smeg stand mixers, stainless steel pasta makers, and meat grinders. The business caters to both the commercial kitchens that rely on its maintenance services and individual consumers seeking cookware or gifts.
