A computer model projecting 10,000 simulations has identified the over of 49.5 points as the value side for Wednesday's Conference USA game in Las Cruces. The SportsLine Projection Model, which entered Week 9 with a 68-59 record on top-rated college football picks, expects the two teams to combine for 56 points. This projection stands out because the model identifies the over as the value side in 65% of the simulated outcomes.

The matchup features Jacksonville State traveling to face New Mexico State at Aggie Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. The Gamecocks arrive with a 5-2 overall record and a 3-0 mark in conference play. Their consistency has been driven by quarterback Caden Creel, who utilizes a dual-threat style to stress defenses. New Mexico State is 3-4 overall and is attempting to remain competitive in the conference standings under quarterback Trey Hedden.

Betting markets currently list Jacksonville State as a three-point favorite. The total points line is set at 49.5. The model's recommendation for the total is based on recent offensive trends. Jacksonville State's last two games have exceeded the point total, and four of their final five contests have also gone over. New Mexico State's most recent game also resulted in a score above the projected total.

The model notes that Creel's ability to extend plays with his legs adds an element of unpredictability that defenses must manage. This factor contributes to the high projected score. The simulation data suggests that one side of the spread hits in well over 50% of the runs, although the specific side is reserved for SportsLine subscribers.

The SportsLine model has returned nearly $400 for $100 players on top-rated college football picks through Week 8. This performance metric is cited as a reason to trust the current projection. The model simulates every FBS game 10,000 times to determine these probabilities.

The game is positioned as a key contest in the conference race. Jacksonville State's recent success gives them a solid standing, while New Mexico State fights for relevance. The betting lines reflect a close contest, with the favorite status marginally in Jacksonville State's favor. The high projected score indicates an expectation of offensive production from both teams.
