Shawn Carter to debut at Super Bowl LXI halftime during Reasonable Doubt tour

The National Football League has confirmed that rapper Jay-Z will perform at the Super Bowl half-time show. The event is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at a stadium near Los Angeles. This marks the first time the hip-hop artist has taken the stage at the NFL championship game, although his company, Roc Nation, has handled the production duties since 2019.

The announcement follows a pair of concerts Jay-Z held at the host venue last weekend. Those shows were part of a tour marking the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt. The NFL did not clarify whether Jay-Z would be the sole headliner or if guest performers would join him on stage.

Commissioner Roger Goodell stated that he had requested Jay-Z take the stage when the moment felt right. Goodell expressed excitement for fans to see the artist's work on the biggest stage. The league also noted that Beyonce is likely to be considered for a guest spot, given their personal connection.

Jay-Z, whose legal name is Shawn Carter, described the career milestone as a dream come true. He credited the last thirty years of work and culture for bringing him to this point. The tour celebrating Reasonable Doubt continues to serve as the vehicle for this announcement.

The Super Bowl will be the 61st edition of the championship game. The league has not yet released a full schedule of events for the weekend, but the halftime performance is the central entertainment component. Fans will watch the show from the Los Angeles area, where the stadium is located.
