Engagement ring sales are no longer confined to the summer months. Couples are proposing and purchasing rings across all four seasons, a shift that has online retailers adjusting their inventory and marketing strategies to reflect year-round demand.

Travis Kelce proposed to Taylor Swift in the middle of summer, while Tom Holland and Zendaya became engaged in the winter. These high-profile examples illustrate a move away from the traditional expectation of waiting for Valentine's Day or peak wedding season to begin the process.

Kylie Bee, the Merchandise Lead of Fine Jewelry at Quince, noted that the best time to propose is simply when it feels right for the couple. This change in consumer behavior has made online shopping a primary channel for finding a ring, allowing buyers to research options without the pressure of a physical store visit.

Quince utilizes a factory-direct model that removes supply-chain middlemen to keep prices low. The company sells lab-grown diamond engagement rings ranging from $900 to $5,000. Bee stated that all engagement rings at Quince can be returned or exchanged within 60 days, and the company offers a limited lifetime warranty.

Blue Nile positions itself as the best value for money with the widest selection of engagement rings online. The retailer offers ethically sourced diamonds, financing, and free engraving. All rings arrive in a deluxe box that includes an appraisal certificate and a diamond grading report.

Other online retailers are differentiating themselves through specific materials and craftsmanship. Vrai uses zero-emission river energy to create lab-grown diamonds from greenhouse gas, claiming that each carat helps save the climate. Catbird, based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, uses 100 percent recycled solid 14k gold or platinum and offers two-day delivery with 10-day returns.

Angara focuses on made-to-order natural and lab-grown gemstone styles, including sapphire, emerald, and ruby rings. Their prices range from a few hundred dollars to over $100,000, and they provide 24/7 customer assistance for customization. Plum Diamonds, a women-owned business, works exclusively with lab-grown diamonds and crafts rings from scratch in 15 to 17 business days.

Jean Dousset, whose founder is the great-great-grandson of Louis Cartier, offers the Claire Collection featuring thinnest prongs that make the center stone appear to float. Mejuri, which handcrafts pieces from solid gold and sterling silver, limits customization to metal colors and free engraving. These online options provide diverse entry points for buyers seeking specific styles, budgets, and sustainability credentials.
