Glendale approved the annexation and rezoning for the 160-acre Project Eagle data center, which is about 2 miles northwest of Luke Air Force Base. The $36 billion project is expected to include two data center buildings and about 700 megawatts of natural gas generators. Glendale Development Services Director Randy Huggins said the city worked with Luke Air Force Base to ensure compatibility with base operations. The project is expected to generate about 200 permanent jobs and more than $150 million in revenue for Glendale over the next 10 years. Construction is scheduled to start next month, with the first data center building set to open in 2028.
