Rep. Ilhan Omar returned to Minnesota on Friday after a two-week absence from public view.

Omar, who represents Minnesota's fifth district, cast an early ballot at a polling place in Minneapolis. She was accompanied by state Attorney General Keith Ellison. The two later visited the Karmel Mall of Somalia in the city, where they shared a meal with members of the local Somali community and posed for photographs.

Later that day, the congresswoman shared a video on X. The clip shows her and her husband, Tim Mynett, walking across a dock on a lake. The background features fall foliage. The video ends with a montage of images from their walk. Omar captioned the post, "Less scrolling, more strolling. Enjoying our beautiful Minnesota lakes." It is unclear when the footage was recorded.

The video is set to the Somali hip-hop track "Nimaan Ciilayba Icaaya" by artist Ilkacase Qays. A translation of the lyrics describes enemies scattering and being crushed. The song states, "Let me reveal who I really am. No enemy dares threaten me, wherever I step, they scatter." It further says, "If the just one had felt anger on my behalf, would he not have crushed the enemy underfoot?"

Omar's return to the public eye follows a search of her Washington, D.C., home on Oct. 12, 2026. Agents from Homeland Security Investigations conducted the raid as part of a criminal fraud investigation. During the search, federal agents confiscated Omar's passport and cellphone. Her sister, Sahra Noor, was interviewed by investigators. Federal agents have also obtained Omar's DNA.

The probe examines immigration paperwork filled out by Omar or her father during her naturalization process. Tom Homan, the border czar, said last week that Omar could be denaturalized if fraud is proven. Omar, whose birth name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, restricted comments on her social media post. The only visible reply came from former Rep. Cori Bush, who wrote, "We love this."
