Elias Lindholm scored the only goal in overtime to lead the Boston Bruins past the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 on Friday night.

The victory extends Boston's home winning streak to five games. The Bruins trailed by two goals in the third period before Mason Lohrei cut the deficit. Morgan Geekie scored his second goal of the season with 12 seconds remaining in regulation to force extra time. Geekie had not scored in his previous nine games.

Chicago took a 4-2 lead in the third period. Ryan Greene and Connor Bedard both scored for the Blackhawks during that stretch. Anton Frondell recorded his second career two-goal game. He opened the scoring in 11 seconds after a delay-of-game penalty on Will Borgen. Frondell added a redirect of a Tyler Bertuzzi shot early in the second period.

Goaltender Michael DiPietro kept Boston within reach despite being outshot 28-13 in the first two periods. He stopped a Connor Bedard shot from the slot with 2:09 left in the first period. DiPietro also made a point-blank save on Patrick Kane midway through the second period to keep the game within one goal.

David Pastrnak scored on a breakaway in the first period. The goal marked his 428th career point. It moved him into sole possession of third place on the Bruins' career goal-scoring list, passing Patrice Bergeron. Casey Mittelstadt and Mason Lohrei also scored for Boston.

Casey Mittelstadt tied the game in the second period. He took a feed from James Hagen and shot past Arvid Soderblom. The Blackhawks entered the game with the NHL's worst power play, converting on 4 of 40 opportunities. They went 0 for 11 on the road before this contest.

The Blackhawks will host the Avalanche on Monday. The Bruins will host the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.
